MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT ACTIVITY REPORT

INTERNATIONAL PERSONS WITH DISABILITY DAY ON 3RD DECEMBER 2023

THEME: United in action to rescue and achieve the SDG’s for, with and by persons with disabilities.

The theme focuses on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) which is adopted by United Nation member states since 2015. As part of International Day of Persons with Disabilities the Mental health department of KVM College of Nursing organized an Essay writing Competition on the topic “Measures to make the world better and fairer for people with disability” on 4th December 2023 in the 4th year class room at 2.00 pm. 14 Students participated from the 4 Batches. Report on Mental Health Day Celebration on 10.10.2023

On the occasion of Mental Health Day on October 10th the 4th Semester students of KVM College of Nursing organized an awareness program at KVM Centre for Inner peace and De addiction. The theme was “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right –Our minds, our rights”, the students conducted an educational session on Mental health, its definition, signs of mental health, causes of mental illness, types of mental illnesses, signs and symptoms of mental illnesses, and measures to enhance mental health in the day to day life of a person. It was well received by the patients and they appreciated the efforts taken by the students. It was well appreciated by the staff as well. It was a good learning experience for the students as well.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING

The Mental Health Department of KVM College of Nursing organized “Autism Awareness Program at KVM Hospital, Cherthala on 05.04.2024 in association with Autism Day 2024. The 5th Semester students of KVM College of Nursing prepared a group education session for those who are attending the OPD of KVM Hospital. They provided information regarding Autism spectrum disorder, its definition, incidence and prevalence, etiology, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and management. The program was well received by the participants.
