COMPLEMENTARY FEEDING DAY

On 14/06/23, complementary feeding week was celebrated at KVM Hospital, Cherthala. As a part of this 4th year BSc Nursing students conducted an exhibition on weaning diet for patients attending Paediatric and Gynecology OPD. The students prepared various weaning dishes according to age group from 6 months to 1 year of age. The programme started at 9 am and ended at 12 N.

CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION REPORT

On 14/11/2023, children’s day was celebrated at special school, KVM trust,
Cherthala. As a part of this we conducted many programmes. The programme started with a
prayer song by 4 th year students. Then welcome speech done by Ms. Surya C S, Vice
principal, KVM college of nursing. Following inauguration done by Ms Mareen Asha M S,
Principal, KVM college of nursing and felicitation delivered by Ms. Sheena PG, Principal,
KVM Special school. Delivered vote of thanks by Ms. Jasmine Salam, Senior Lecturer, KVM
college of Nursing. Then cultural programme was started. Performance done by 4 th year & 4 th
semester BSc Nursing students and also special school students. It was a fantastic programme
and all are enjoyed well. Then started their competitions such as Painting, Toffee picking,
bottle filling, & musical chair. Prizes were distributed by Ms. Sheena PG & incentive prizes
given to all children who were participated in the programme. The programme was dismissed
by national anthem. The programmed started at 11.00am and ended up at 01.00pm.

Report of ORS day celebration

On 27 thJuly 2023 2sem Bsc nursing students conducted a program in  OPD block of KVM multispecialty hospital as part of ORS day celebration which is observed on 29 th July of  each year. This year the theme was on “Be proud of your mouth “.This day is celebrated to emphasize the importance of ORS as an affordable health care method to treat diarrhea and dehydration. Awareness is the first step towards any solution and mitigating any problem . The programwas  started at 10 am .the students of 2sem BSc was explained the in detail about the origin ,significance and theme of ORS day. They also briefed out the current statistics of diarrhea related death in India ,the way to regain health after an episode of diarrhea and vomiting . The students overviewed the importance of ORS,advantages,contraindication,side effects,and also about the availability of commercially prepared ORs packets .the group explained about how to prepare  ORS in home with easily available resources. The session was very informative and ended up at 11am .

REPORT ON BREAST FEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION

( AUGUST 1ST-7 TH)           As a part of world breast feeding week celebration, our fourth year BSc nursing students were conducted an exhibition and health education program on breast feeding at KVM hospital on August second 2023.The theme of this year is ‘’ Enabling breast feeding: Making a difference for working parents”. This year theme is important because workplace challenges remain the most common reason for women to never breast feed or to stop breast feeding rerlier than recommended. Parents need adequate time and support to breast feed. More than half a billion working women are not given essential maternity protections in national laws Students did a skit followed by health education programme. They were explained about importance of this year theme, definition of breast feeding, exclusive breast feeding, Types of breast milk, initiation of breast feeding, physiology of lactation, technique of breast feeding, signs of good attachment and poor attachment, advantages of breast feeding, importance of keeping expressed breast milk in the absence of mother, contra indications of and problems of breast feeding. The programme started at10.30 am and it was ended at 11.45 pm.
